At People for Humanity (PFH), we believe in empowering women with the tools and skills they need to become self-reliant and self-sufficient. One of our ongoing projects focuses on establishing sewing centers across Pakistan, specifically targeting single mothers and widows. Through these centers, we aim to provide women with a valuable and marketable skill set that not only helps them earn a living but also fosters independence and empowerment.
The impact of our sewing centers goes beyond skill acquisition; it instills hope, dignity, and empowerment in the lives of women who have faced adversity. A mother’s heartache is transformed into hope as she gains the means to provide for her children’s basic needs and secure a better future for her family.
Location & Equipment
Our sewing centres are strategically located in areas such as Charsadda, KP, Dhok e Kalaryan, Punjab, Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Multan, Punjab. Each centre is equipped with approximately 15 sewing machines, creating a conducive environment for learning and skill development.
Why Sewing Centres?
The rationale behind our sewing centres stems from the urgent need to uplift and support women facing economic challenges, particularly single mothers and widows. These centres serve as hubs for:
- Skill Development Women in need are taught essential skills such as cutting different fabrics, designing various patterns, and mastering diverse sewing techniques. This comprehensive training empowers them with a lifelong skill that can be used for personal and professional purposes.
- Empowering Livelihoods Through the acquired skills, women can sew clothes not only to earn a living but also to provide for their families. This economic empowerment is crucial in breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering financial stability.
Paid Staff and Operational Structure:
Each sewing centre is staffed by a dedicated sewing master who oversees the training sessions and ensures that women receive personalized instruction and guidance. Additionally, there is support staff, such as cleaners, to maintain a clean and organized environment conducive to learning.
